John Lewis Pet Insurance — now underwritten by Intact Insurance (a company I’d never even heard of) — is not worth the money. Do not bother. After just one year, my policy renewal increased by over 51%, despite the fact that my dog is young, has had no claims, no injuries, no illnesses, and no ongoing health concerns. When I queried this excessive increase, I was simply told, “your dog is older” — my dog is four years old. I raised a formal complaint and explicitly requested that it be escalated to a manager, only to receive a response from a complaints handler, not management. The reply was the same generic, scripted response, with no meaningful explanation or willingness to properly review the issue. This company clearly does not value loyal customers and hides behind boilerplate responses rather than taking accountability. Dreadful company. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Reviewed on: 5th January 2026

Ridiculous renewal price!

Renewal premium went from £504.20 to £1093.64! One small claim for less than £300. Cancelled immediately and found comparable cover for a fraction of the renewal cost. Reviewed on: 9th October 2025

a £500 hike in my premium for my healthy dachshund with no health conditions and no claims. The ethics of John Lewis needs questioning. They are daylight robbers. I won't be renewing with them for sure. Reviewed on: 23rd September 2025

Quick and effective.

Usually deal with claims quickly and effectively. Simple to use process. Could be a little cheaper for renewals, but decent value. Reviewed on: 8th September 2025

No Claims but 80% Increase in Premium

WE have 2 Labradors, both currently in good health, and neither have had claims made in the last insurance year, however, John Lewis have decided to make fantastic increases in the Insurance Premiums of each. Last August (2024) we re-insured one Lab and the Premium rose from £249 to £376, which was bad enough, but this week (April'25) we received a letter from John Lewis Insurance telling us that they made mistake and the Premium should have been £447.66, "but don't worry, we don't have to pay the difference"! Unbelievable! We won't be re-newing again. Reviewed on: 11th April 2025

Chihuahua x never once claimed in 6 years and price gone up 50 per cent. I asked why - 1 year older and i live in London. I went with John Lewis because of the reputation but its appalling- customer services was fobbing off. Not interested at all. Couldn’t explain is shorter life dogs were even higher premiums. Told if I went on line even with John Lewis that they wouldn’t honour it. Don’t be scammed. Just find an insurer who wants to insure your pet. John Lewis don’t. Very sad Reviewed on: 1st April 2025

50 % Increase For No Reason

Just got my renewal cover sent to me, 50% increase then there has never been a claim and my dog is still young and healthy. John Lewis are just ripping of dog owners to fill the gaps in their P&L Reviewed on: 8th November 2024
