Swift and painless claim L&G paid me the insurance for a damaged camera very quickly and I was able to have it repaired and back in use on. next to no time. Reviewed on: 5th September 2025

Review of the Legal and General, Home Insurance:

These low-lifes give the insurance industry the bad name it's renowned for!

To refer to these low lives as pond scum would be an insult to aquatic weeds. They take your money for years and when you make a claim, they search high and low for caveats in their terms and conditions to weasel out of paying. Not only that, whilst they "process" your claim they will take months to "investigate" potential conflict of their hidden T&C clauses, whilst still charging you your monthly premiums. You have to chase and chase and listen to excuse after excuse about the underwriters being busy, before eventually being told they are making your policy invalid. Reviewed on: 21st January 2021

Great value

Easy to use

I tend to switch home insurance providers each year to get the best deal but L and G seem to have the best deals all year round and year after year. I've not had any complaints about them So far Reviewed on: 24th December 2016

Mixed feelings

L&G have a lovely little app which help you work out how much your possessions are worth. But it does not warn you that there is a maximum amount on their normal insurance. Nor does it allow you to save your figures even though there is a save button. So you can spend some time on their site and end up not using them. Reviewed on: 24th December 2016

Quick service

I bought a new bike and insured it along with an existing bike. The cover was very cheap at only £13 extra per year. Unfortunately my new bike was stolen 1 day after I insured it. I didn't think they'd pay out but after only a few very reasonable questions they paid out in full and also paid for new lights and locks with no quibbles at all. I had the money 1 week after my bike was stolen. Amazing service. Reviewed on: 23rd December 2016

Home Insurance Claim

We were in the unfortunate position of having sustained some damage to our roof as a result of a storm at the beginning of 2016; the claim process was quick and easy, the loss adjuster visited quickly and the claim was settled promptly. Reviewed on: 28th October 2016

avoid at all costs

I have been waiting for 2 months for a simple agreed payment below £400 to be processed (home insurance policy). Long waits on the phone, lack of single point of contact, not responsive to complaints Reviewed on: 28th October 2016

Great!

I've only called them a couple of time but I've experienced great customer service both times. Our renewal quote was much better than I expected which was great. Reviewed on: 5th October 2016
