Mortgage Rates

I'd like to understand why the Melton Mowbray Building Society decided to profit from the recent base rate reductions, and not to reduce the standard variable rate for mortgages in line with many other lenders? Wouldn't it be more in line with your statement "being a mutual building society which places customers and the community at the heart of everything we do.". Reviewed on: 27th June 2020

Reply from Melton Building Society Thank you for your review. Unlike other lenders, we chose not to increase our Standard Variable Rate when Bank of England Base Rate was last increased. Accordingly, our SVR was already lower than many of our competitors during the recent rate reductions. If you would like to discuss in more detail then please telephone us on 01664 414141. Great service

In the middle of the latest financial crisis, Billy from melton BS rang me to remind me to consider their offers for existing clients , at the end of their guaranteed period were being removed, but they would honour them for existing clients for a few days. I have moved over onto one of their offers on a 5 year fix. They didn't have to do anything so i am really pleased with their service. Reviewed on: 30th September 2022

Lisa P Always Goes The Extra Mine

We started our mortgage journey all the way back in May. After being looked after by Lisa, we were looking forward to an easy and trouble free end. However, the seller and our solicitors were so useless that I've had to spend the last 5 months chasing them to get this over the line. Lisa was always on hand to provide assurance that our mortgage wasn't going anywhere and to offer alternatives when I tentatively thought about calling the some thing off. Excellent service

I've been with the Melton Mowbray Building Society for over 20 years and I've always received excellent service. When I want to speak to someone they know my history and always give me great advice and consideration. Occasionally I've seen a slightly better product on the market in terms of interest rates, but I stay with the Melton Mowbray because of the personal level of service and the kindness that the staff have shown me whenever I've contacted them.
