Monzo offer a free bank account for under 16s, with controls set by their parent or guardian.

Kids get their own neon card and can see their money in the Monzo app. Parents or Guardians can keep an eye on the account, set spending limits and schedule pocket money.

Love Monzo!!!!

Love Monzo, it’s easy to use and helps me keep track on my spending habits and helps me save using pots. My daughter has an under16’s account which is great for her as I keep see what she spends and keep track of her pots aswell. Quick and easy to make payments especially to friends and family who also have Monzo. Considering closing my other bank accounts down as I no longer use them! I ordered this for my daughter for her pocket money and savings. It’s great, very easy to use and the fact that you can choose the colour of the card it’s great. I would love if they would add the option of people from other countries to be able to pay into this account as well, but otherwise it’s fantastic. Reviewed on: 6th March 2026

Best under 16's account if have tried

Easy to set up. Its also great that it let's kids have a savings account alongside thier bank account. I like the feature of being able to limit what the kids can spend and the feature to lock their savings til a specified date. Reviewed on: 6th March 2026

Easy to use and really helpful

I have an Under 16 account for each of my children. It is easy and straightforward to see their balance, set up payments and for them to spend with their cards. It’s also a great way for them to see their money, and the savings spending pot attached to their account means they can start to learn to put some away. Reviewed on: 6th March 2026

We recently opened the Under-16 account with Monzo and it’s been brilliant. The setup was quick and straightforward, and the app makes it really easy to manage everything in one place. My child loves having their own card and being able to see their spending, while I still have full visibility and control through my app. I really like that I can set spending limits, get instant notifications when the card is used, and send pocket money in seconds. It’s a great way to help children learn about saving and managing money safely. Monzo has made banking simple, secure and actually enjoyable for young people. Highly recommend to any parents looking to give their kids a safe introduction to money and banking. Reviewed on: 6th March 2026
