Monzo offer a free bank account for under 16s, with controls set by their parent or guardian.

Kids get their own neon card and can see their money in the Monzo app. Parents or Guardians can keep an eye on the account, set spending limits and schedule pocket money.

Great for adults, great for kids

It sounds mad, but I'd say Monzo has transformed both my and my kids' interactions with money. Such a user-friendly, accessible and clever platform which introduces the idea of budgeting and saving as well as spending. I love how in touch with their bank accounts I am, and how easy it is for me to send a quick £5 for lunch if the need arises. It's a game changing fintech platform. Reviewed on: 6th March 2026

I opened an account for my son and daughter (twins) at 10-years-old (now 11) to introduce them to financial literacy and money management. They love using their cards to make purchases, always want to know their balance, and recently started using pots to save towards a specific item. Thank you for having this product.
