YOU MUST READ THIS!

Been with 'More Than' house insurance for several years which was fine until we come to make a claim. The roof of the house started leaking in the master bedroom, over the bed and above the bedroom window. We reported this to 'More than' who then informed us that WE need to get a roofer out and identify the root cause of the problem! We were also told to submit estimates for the repair work. The roofers came out and identified the root cause being damaged caused by two large trees at the side of the house. When we submitted the quotes to 'More than' they then contacted us to say they would NOW be sending one of their surveyors out. He arrived when we had three inches of snow covering the whole of the roof. He didn't go on the roof and he didn't even go in the loft, he did go over the road and took a picture showing a snow covered roof with two big trees at the side. So you can imagine our surprise when several days later he reported that the leaking was caused by normal wear and tear which is NOT covered under the policy. BE WARNED, IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW CHEAP THE COVER COSTS, IT'S NOT WORTH IT IF THEY ARE GOING TO WRIGGLE OUT OF SETTLING ANY CLAIMS!!! Reviewed on: 21st December 2017

Good until an emergency arises

I recently had my living room window smashed. As I couldn't get through on the telephone I made an online claim as was suggested. what they don't tell you though is that takes 24 hours to process. I managed to call in and they put me through to the company they use for emergencies - VPS. That company came out and boarded up the window. So far so good but now comes the major problem - the so called emergency repairs service "VPS" (Probably stands for very poor service) are not going to be able to replace my window for 2 weeks. They claim it will take 5 days to order the glass and then another week before they can fit it. In the meantime I have a wooden board covering the window, a cold house and my husband sleeping downstairs as we don't feel safe. It's a complete joke. Reviewed on: 8th December 2017

Use unqualified contractors

Home Insurance... Don't do it! My property was damaged by a flash flood, the company Morethan used did more damage than the flood in the first place. They insisted on using the same company to repair the damage, which resulted in a complete bodge job after several attempts. My own investigations into the company used showed the personnel making the technical decisions were not qualified in any way to assess or undertake structural work. The ombudsman did force them to allow me to choose a contractor to remove and correct the bodged jobs, but didn't seem to want to recognise Morethan's duty of care to vet their contractors. It took over 2 years to get my house in any semblance of order and some of the bodge job still causes problems. Morethan insisted (again) on sending the original company in to try and sort it. It turned out they had 'phoenixed' - where you build up debt as a company with no assets, shut it down on Friday and open up on Monday under a new name. Normally as part of a group with a management company at the top. Well done Morethan for knowingly using a fraudulent contractor. Reviewed on: 24th August 2017

Value for money.

We insure our contents with More Than, been with them 5 years and the premium has stayed very close to what we were originally paying back in 2012. Once they tried to put it up by a couple of quid per month on renewal, I called them up and they were able to match the previous year premium. Reviewed on: 16th August 2017

worry free insurance happiness

i have been with them 10+years and had nothing but excellent service from my one and only claim to day to day worry free insurance i can not fault them and when i moved home i notified them i actually got a refund on my premiums as i was paying to much for my new address and i use a price comparison sight each year but they still come up with the cheapest premiums Reviewed on: 1st August 2017
