Really friendly, helpful staff and also easy to add funds by internet as well.

I met staff of Newbury Building Society at Abingdon Air Show and liked the sound of the account which I subsequently opened in branch. The service I received in branch was very good and the whole process was very smooth. Since then I have used internet access which again is very user-friendly (I'm not computer-savvy, so need simple systems!). Reviewed on: 4th January 2018

Newbury Building Society are time wasters

I recently applied online to open a new saver account. I opened the account without any problems and I deposited funds. A few days later I received a phone call from a representative of Newbury Building Society informing me that my account will be closed because I live outside of their area of operation. When I mentioned that there was nothing in the account information or the application suggesting that I was not eligible to open the saving account, the response that I got from the representative of the society was that the rule about living in the operation area was stated in some obscure document that was available on their website. Allowing customers to open and fund saving accounts online and then deciding to close these accounts for reasons not mentioned in the account documentation is not a way to do business. It shows that Newbury Building Society is not a serious financial institution. The market is very competitive and my time is far to precious to have to deal with time wasters such as Newbury Building Society. Reviewed on: 26th April 2021

Friendly staffs, easy to use online banking, excellent rate

Very pleased with the staffs on phone and at the branch, all very knowledgeable, approachable and helpful. Their saving account offers excellent interest rate. Also very importantly the branch is a dog friendly :) Reviewed on: 23rd April 2021

Great Building Society, great website

I recently opened a new account at the Newbury. That was very straightforward. I then applied for Internet access to the account and that too was very straightforward. Finally I open a new account using the website and that was straightforward. They offer favourable rates, a friendly smile and a simple website that works!!! Reviewed on: 23rd April 2021

Lovely Staff, Very Helpful and Easy to Set Up

Recently opened new ISA for current tax year. Simple process and very helpful and communicative staff. I would have liked to have processed this all online but a form had to be printed, posted off etc but all was fine and appreciate great customer service. Thank you. Reviewed on: 16th April 2021

Excellent!

My initial enquiry was answered quickly and fully. Relevant forms received the following day and I was able to make an appointment for the following day. Sue was ready and waiting when I arrived. No hiccups and I can’t fault the service or the staff. Reviewed on: 16th April 2021

No clue on website as to where to post application caused problems

Wanted to open a Cash ISA. Branch only open morning so no good for me. Printed off form, completed and sent with cheque to Head Office (no clue on website where to send applications for new accounts). After a week of hearing nothing, phoned head office, was transferred to Andover branch, which was wrong branch. Only saving grace was lady in Andover branch who took ownership of my problem, phoned round your branches until she tracked my application down, and then phone dme back with an update that day. Great customer service. Passbook has now finally arrived but disappointed to see account not backdated to day it would have arrived at your head office (almost a week difference).
