I met staff of Newbury Building Society at Abingdon Air Show and liked the sound of the account which I subsequently opened in branch. The service I received in branch was very good and the whole process was very smooth. Since then I have used internet access which again is very user-friendly (I'm not computer-savvy, so need simple systems!). Reviewed on: 4th January 2018

Nearly perfect!

I was keeping the 2 minutes silence for Rememberance Day on 11/11/20 at 11am when the branch rang me I did not answer but after The Last Post from The Cenotaph had sounded I did 1471 and phoned the number they gave me to see who had called. It was the Newbury Building Society. Otherwise the service has been excellent. Reviewed on: 16th November 2020

Quick service and good advice

We dont go in more than a few times a year as we use the Newbury for savings and deposits more than anything. The wokingham counter staff are always friendly and welcoming and work fast. We needed some quick advice on options resulting in some new accounts to be created. All done in 10mins and new books in the post 2 days later. Reviewed on: 6th November 2020

Delay with opening.

I like NBS and opened a second account. I was then asked for all sorts of ID proof even tho am customer. When challenged this was not required in the end but no reason given. Reviewed on: 6th November 2020

Savings at difficult times

I have been with Newbury Building Society as an investor since I moved to Newbury in 2015. The concept of a local financial organisation that invests locally for the benefit of local people appeals to me. The rates on savings are not the best in the market, but you are well-managed and easily accessible. Your staff always give an excellent service, whether at the premises in Newbury or on the phone. Senior Service

Having opened a Senior Saver Account online, I attempted an online transfer of money into that account. Unfortunately, the bank from which the money was coming could not identify my Newbury account. Not wanting to trust a cheque for a rather large sum to the post, I went to a local branch. My requirements were promptly dealt with by pleasant, polite and efficient staff.
