Tailored home and contents insurance

Filled in questionnaire on what I had to have for building & contents insurance as needed to renew. There were detailed categories of cover, essentials and add ons. Emergency cover, which being on my own, was particularly important was excellent. Legal cover was complimentary. I could adjust my quote by changing my voluntary excess and they beat the other two quotes I’d researched hands down; so as well as good value for money I felt the insurance was well tailored to my needs. Too stressful when making a claim

Too stressful when making a claim Dont waste your money. HORRIBLE company when you are trying to make a claim. They will ask you to do it online/ via their portal then everytime you do it they will just close your claim without dealing with it. Send so many messages and they said they will reply within 4 hours but they never did. Reviewed on: 14th September 2024

POLICY EXPERT - IF YOU NEED A CLAIM DON'T BOTHER

I have used this company for several years now - and like many say - you only know how good the insurance policy is when you need to make a claim. I have tried to make a claim for a nest of bees which has moved into the gap between the upstairs flooring and downstairs ceiling. I have sought professional advice and this nest obviously needs safe removal - particularly as my son has been stung several times now. Now in the general house insurance policy, bee removal does not appear to be covered??? I had to be passed around from pillar to post, make six telephone calls, send four emails and fill in two claim forms to be read word for word the details of the policy exclusions - which appears to be many might I add. I have filed a complaint and have had no reply to date. Apparently, bees are not classed as a 'pest' - I find this hard to believe when they are living in my house, stinging family members and eating through the joists to expand their nest. I appreciate they are protected and the service I contacted would remove them and relocate unharmed - but this is a service I cannot afford myself. I will not be renewing with this company for sure and will go to a more reputable, reliable main stream insurance company in the future. I know for sure that Admiral cover for bee infestation and that bees in homes is becoming more of a problem as we have more houses and less trees. Take my advice and go somewhere else for home insurance if you ever want to claim for anything. Reviewed on: 12th September 2024
