Never ever get post office car insurance

My dad had car accident which was not his fault. They said they can't repair the car as repair will cost more than value of car so, we opt for car money and its been 3 months since we put the claim and still has not been sorted. We were referred to total-loss team which was dealing with 3rd party insurer but we had to contact the insurance by ourselves to provide them with letter. It felt like we were doing more than their job. More than 2 weeks before we were said that 3rd party made a counter offer and we were waiting for money but when I chased them, they said 3rd party denied to release any fund so we have been referred back to post office.He had witness who provided all the details of accident but still they could not retrieve claim money from 3rd party insurer. Post office insurance company has useless staff, If u call them none of the staff has clue which department to put u through so they will pretend to transfer until phone gets cut. It's been very stressful and frustrating at the same time. Pay little more and get nicer insurer than having this insurance company. Reviewed on: 31st January 2025

Very good customer service

Cancellation car sale

The cancellation charge is only £1 less than the remaining charges. Inequitable and not an encouragement to use this company again. NEVER! Reviewed on: 17th February 2017

Waste of time

Firstly whilst completing the on line quote application my car registration (Been insured elsewhere for 8 years!) couldn't be found. Then when I filled in details of my car it insisted it had automatic gears which it hasn't and finally when clicked to get quote it said there was a problem and to get the quote click continue - this took me back to the start with all data erased. They Guarantee to beat your renewal quote ...... but when they don't !!!!!

Letter received from Post Office July 2016 - We Guarantee to Beat your renewal quote by at least £50. Sounded too good to be true but ... I rang. Went through the whole car insurance questions and their quote was over £200 MORE than my renewal quote - so I said I would email my renewal quote and they could then confirm they would match and give me £50. SURPRISE, surprise ..... they informed me I had to sign up for their policy at the price quoted and then send in the documents and they would scrutinise them to confirm it was a like for like and then refund me the £250 plus. I wasn't falling for that one! BEWARE promises they probably won't keep! Reviewed on: 10th August 2016

Cheap insurance

I have insured my car for 2 years running with the Post Office. Details are sent through quickly and the overall cost includes a lot of extras which are often not included with other insurers. I believe the cost is extremely competitive hence renewing again this year. Reviewed on: 24th December 2015
