Poor service, slow claims process, rising premiums

With insurance, there are limited interactions upon which to base your judgment. My experiences with Purely Pets thus far have generally been unfavourable. In fairness, the premiums seem competitive for the level of cover - although we will only truly be able to assess that if/when they pay out on a claim! However, they have increased the premium aggressively in year two, despite our pets being young, healthy (no prior claims) and kept indoors. They increased our premiums further when we told them we had moved (from West London to home counties and the pets never leave the house, so it's hard to see what possible change there could be to the risk profile). And now to my ongoing claim. Purely Pets don't pay for treatment up front so you are already having to incur expenses and wait to claim back. Then they have busted through their already lengthy claim assessment period with nothing but standard, identically worded text messages in the meantime, telling me not to worry. I sent a message to follow up and they have busted through their timeframe for responding to that too! Will they ever respond? Will they ever process my claim? The customer service is slow to non-existent and the fervour with which they increase premiums is another bad sign. (My claim has not yet been assessed, so this review is not influenced by a good or bad result). Reviewed on: 23rd August 2024

A very fair & professional company.

We have insured our two dogs with Purely Pets for nearly 8 years. Due to the bread of our dogs we have unfortunately had to call upon Purely Pets on a few occasions over the years. We have always been very impressed by the fairness & professionalism of the company, they are always thorough but at the same time none intrusive. We have always felt confident that our dogs will be able to get the help of they need it they need it, this is important. Yes the premiums have increase over the years but this is to be expected but the increases have always been fair & never excessive. The only times we had to claim for our very sick dog who unfortunately we lost we were treated with kindness our only problem was with the vets who couldn't seem to tie up the payments against the bills they were sending in they asked if i would like to pay ex amount to bring the account up to date i refused and asked them for a breakdown of all the bills incurred. Then asked pureley to give me a breakdown of all payments they had made i then compared them side by side and the vets ended owing us money. So well done pureley.... Reviewed on: 1st July 2020
