I've been paying lifetime insurance for my 12yo dog since he was about 12 weeks old. A year ago I found out he had a heart murmer. They paid for the ultrasound and up to £1,000 meds per year, minus the excess and co-pay, which I was aware of. I dropped a star because my renewal next month has gone up by £20pm. I'm assuming they will pay another £1,000 towards the meds starting in May. Reviewed on: 20th April 2026

Be very very careful of the small print. Our dog had to be put down due to old age. Let me be clear that no amount of money could replace her. We didn’t go to town on the services on offer from the vet and the total cost of euthanasia and cremation came to £491. We submitted a claim and after all the deductions and exclusions Animal Friends pay me £11 back. I paid £50 a month in premiums and, while I appreciate the company isn’t a charity, this seems poor return. It’s an emotional time and it feels kick being kicked when low. No friends of animals here! They do NOT look out for loyal customers. I was with them for 5 years, had a few small claims. My renewal came through and I did what any normal person would do and compare - I got a better deal with them on a comparison site. Went with them again… started the policy for when the old one finished (01/08/25) I received an email on the 1st August stating my policy was LIVE. Didn’t think anything of it, took my dog to the vet’s for a lump (has a few fatty ones so wanted to check new one) I took him on the 14th August. He needed biopsy done, so I called to find out my excess to which the lady said he wouldn’t be covered. I then asked why and she said because I was in a 14 day cooling off period (I was 7hours away from it being 15th day!) I said I had been with them for years to which she said because I took out a new one on a comparison site it started again. I then called back again to further the complaint - to which they said the cooling off period was to protect loyal customers!!! I said I had been with them as they can see for over 5 years!!!! The lump ended up being the dreaded cancer, and so far has cost us £2350.49 to help our dog out. To which the insurance company have closed my complaint blaming the comparison site for its wording!!!! I will be taking this to the ombudsman also. I do not know how they can send you an email stating your insurance is live.. when it is NOT!!! There is also no wording on said email to state there is a cooling off period!!!! DO NOT USE THIS INSURANCE - they will not help in your time of need!! Reviewed on: 26th September 2025

The payments are reasonable & the vet can fill in everything online, so no paying uofront & claiming back! I particularly love how they donate to various small animal charities, too....! Reviewed on: 5th September 2025

Quick and easy to claim

Quick and easy to make a claim. Our vets can make the claim directly and they are quick to accept and then approve the payment. If it's declined it's clearly explained why. If they don't pay the whole amount, again it's clearly explained. When our cat had a severe illness and was admitted to hospital, we informed them ahead of the claim a d they were very kind and understanding. They reassured us the claim would be processed. Been with animals friends for 7 years now , 6 years in I had to make claim for my dog after an accident, so easy to apply was complete within a matter of days. Great communication all round great company Reviewed on: 9th June 2025
