What a terrible company - I have had a company car for years and no claims at all! Due to car allowance I have leased a car. Despite Lex providing details of my No claims; RAC would not accept!!!!! They claim it’s not valid so I asked to cancel and they stated it would take effect at midnight that day. Instead they cancelled it at 15:30 putting me and my vehicle at severe risk. Would not recommend- try LV!

Rip off company!
Took a breakdown, parts and labour insurance for a 7 year old car and they declined to cover a broken clutch and forced me to use one of their authorised dealers which charged£1700 pounds even before they would diagnose which parts were broken! Both RAC and their dealer coerced me to pay upfront if I wanted the insurer to have a look. RAC parts and labour Customer services is terrible and they will hide behind 'Wear and Tear' clause for anything you try to claim... basically the insurance does not work for old cars... and it is pointless for new cars!
DO NOT RECOMMED

After buying another car (7 years younger than current one and no bigger - going from Fiat Punto to Vauxhall Corsa), I go to swap my RAC insurance to the new car to be told it will be over £100+!! more for the year? So I go to cancel and am told I'll be charged a £50 cancellation fee PLUS £24 admin fee, so as you can imagine, hardly worth me cancelling. But hey RAC!! you won't see me for dust this time next year. You rip people off. I've just searched like for like quotes on Meerkat and found I could have my insurance at my current price for the size of car I have brought. I am appalled companies like you can get away with daylight robbery! This is the last you will see of me!

You will spend forever on hold trying to speak with anyone. You will have to listen to endless information before you even get put on hold. You will be subject to huge premium increases every year. You will subjected to endless calls from ambulance chasers when making a claim. A truly terrible company to deal with.

Filled in details online. Obtained quote of £377.08. Tried to pay having put in purchase date - and suddenly 'the site was closed due to maintenance'. Rang up - 10 minutes listening to drivel before I got to an adviser. Lots more sales chat - finally confirmed the quote of £377.08 and eventually go to the payment part - and I was then told. 'The price is £553 - OK?'
Hang on - what ... No explanation for the huge price hike, just told 'That's now the price...' No explanation for not honoring the quote which on screen I was told was valid for today. He just kept saying - 'That's the price - OK? No - that's really NOT OK! Disgraceful! Will not buy any RAC products from now on.

Appalling service & total rip off

Appalling. They automatically renewed my policy at an increased premium, it took me 8 days to get through on the phone to tell them I did not want to renew, then they charged me a £25 fee and £33.17 for the 8 days cover, even though I had taken out a p...

Appalling. They automatically renewed my policy at an increased premium, it took me 8 days to get through on the phone to tell them I did not want to renew, then they charged me a £25 fee and £33.17 for the 8 days cover, even though I had taken out a policy with eSure. It then took me hours and hours to get through to pay the charges. Total rip off.

My brother collapsed at hospital in a diabetic coma and was in and out of consciousness. I rushed to the hospital before he was transferred to another hospital...I rang, as my brother's insurers, these clowns to get me put on the insurance for 1 hour so I could drive his Discovery home...they wouldn't unless we started a brand new policy, for 1 hours insurance! I haven't had a bump in 20 +years, no DD, no claims for 20+years...I have 1 speeding for doing 34 in a 30 (shoot me) I had 3rd party for any car on my own policy but then when accidents happen when you haven't insurance! Pillocks. We have now moved the policy to another company even though it cost us more.

RAC seem to be the only insurance company who specify that the NCB is in the name of the main driver rather than the policyholder. This caused no end of problems when I was shopping around for new insurance and necessitated me cancelling another car insurance policy early so I could use the NCB from that vehicle. So frustrating.

RAC are the only company who specify this so it caused unnecessary frustration. Avoid.
