My only negative was the wait time. 9.5hours but I understand that because I was at my daughters house so not out in the elements and realise others would take priority. I didn’t get the guy’s name unfortunately but he was very knowledgeable, quiet at first but then was very chatty. He located problem as I could only select 3 and 4 in my Suzuki Splash so no way I could drive it. He informed me what the problem was (left to Right gear linkage disconnect ) Advised that I may need a new cable in the future but was confident in his repair. He usually serves Coventry and Nuneaton areas but was detoured to Upper Tysoe at 7.40pm 01.02.26. He asked if I was returning home that evening and offered to follow me back to Coventry. An absolute credit to your company and obvious loves his job!! Please could you locate the job number and pass on my thanks. A very happy customer Lynda Woods. Thank you Read more Read less

The service I’ve received from the RAC has been extremely poor. On two separate occasions I’ve had to cancel call-outs due to excessive waiting times. A few weeks ago my car broke down at a petrol pump. I waited for an unreasonable length of time with no meaningful update, and eventually had to call someone I know to come and help instead. Yesterday my car would not start at home. I contacted the RAC at 12pm and was given an initial attendance window of 2:30pm to 5:30pm. At 5:30pm, without explanation, this was changed to 6:30pm to 9:30pm. By 8pm I had already waited so long that there was no point in the call-out continuing, so I cancelled. This morning I submitted another request at 7:30am and, as of 1:45pm, I am still waiting for assistance. The lack of reliability, repeated delays, and poor communication have made this an incredibly frustrating experience. Based on these repeated issues, I would not use this service again and would not recommend it to others...... It is now 16.45, despite talking with them on multiple occasions and being assured I will have a call back and a technician sent out I have yet to receive either of these things. I have requested a full refund as I have yet to receive any form of service from them. Read more Read less

I had an extremely disappointing experience with the RAC following a breakdown. I was left stranded for almost 24 hours despite reporting the issue promptly. The tracking links sent to me didn’t work, so I had to repeatedly call for updates — and each time the arrival time changed. Recoveries were arranged, cancelled and reallocated without clear communication, even after my situation was escalated due to personal safety concerns. I was alone, far from home, and felt completely unsupported. In the end, I had to arrange and pay for private recovery myself just to get home safely. To their credit, the issue was eventually reviewed at a senior level and I was reimbursed for my costs along with additional compensation. However, the overall experience severely affected my confidence in the service. Breakdown cover is something you rely on in vulnerable situations — and unfortunately, when I needed it most, it simply wasn’t there. Read more Read less

My wife and I broke down at the side of the A64 with first contact with the RAC at approximately 12:45 pm. Reporting the breakdown... My wife and I broke down at the side of the A64 with first contact with the RAC at approximately 12:45 pm. Reporting the breakdown via the internet was an absolute nightmare. After a few hours I arranged for a family member to drive the 90 Mile round trip to collect my wife while I stayed with the car. The ETA update from the RAC stated 17:20 to 19:20 for recovery. Even following a few calls and having got though to a representative asking for an update this never changed, even when the time passed 19:20! The recovery company which the RAC subcontracted to recover me stated an ETA of around 17:30 but when I tried to contact them there was no response. After sitting waiting for over 8 and a half hours at the side of a national speed limit road with cars passing at 70 MPH the recovery finally arrived around 21:20! I joined the RAC with the expectation that the customer service would be top notch but this has turned out to be far from the truth. Point 1 Having to report the breakdown via the internet should be an option to speaking to a representative NOT the main route. point 2 Recovery updates should be frequent (hourly) and relevant not stay the same even when the initial latest ETA has passed. Point 3 Waiting 8 and a half hours for recovery in the middle of no where is unacceptable service from a leader is the industry. Read more Read less

Broke down and reported the issue. Told waiting time was upto 7 hours with minimum being 4 hours. I am a blue badge holder with my daughter in the car. Started getting really cold so called them back. As I am a blue badge holder I was told I had been upgraded and would be given priority and a 45 min slot. Time then went up another hour to possibly over 7 hours. Called back to ask why the priority hadn't happened and got fobbed off. The place I am parked told me its illegal to be here and are putting pressure on me. Reported that to the RAC who still cant improve the waiting time. I understand the may be busy but this is terrible. Sat cold and in pain wondering how a reputable company can have got to be in such a state. Read more Read less
