Absolutely positively horrific

AVOID THIS USELESS COMPANY AVOID THIS USELESS COMPANY So I broke down on my way home from Scotland on Thursday 16/03/23 at 07:40, 08.03 - first contact with RAC, the usual speal, we will get you recovered ASAP likely to be up to 3 hours. Not haply but oh well so be it 08.34 - second contact, RAC contacted me to tell me that beciase it's going to take so long for recovery we are sending you a hire car as soon as enterprise opens. I thought wow great service thanks. ALL DOWN HILL FROM HERE IM AFRAID. 11.12 - contacted RAC for an update as still no hire car and we were coming close to the original 3 hour window I was given only to be told that my case is with a specialist department and they do not accept calls, she couldn't tell me anything else, but she assured me someone would be in touch with me very shortly. 11.54 - I contacted all the local enterprise car hire centres local to where I was to see if amything had been booked for myself or the RAC and they had not heard anything. 12.00 - contacted RAC again to ask them what is going on with the hire car or recover as we are now passed the 3 hour time frame I was originally given and to mention that none of the enterprise in the area had a booking for me, I was told they sometimes use other hire company's, so I continued to wait. 12.46 - I recieve a text message saying my taxi has been booked, call this number for taxi related updates to which I called and got through to a complete different company that told me that the taxi will be taking be to dumfries (back to scotland) I said why, she said she didn't know, the pick up location was also wrong. 13.47 - I got a phone call of a taxi driver saying he has arrived for me, I contacted RAC again got passed through to 4 different departments and finally found out the taxi is taking me to enterprise in dumfries, 40+ miles away, not the one in Carlisle which is 7 miles away. They told me to leave the van and leave the keys in the petrol station with a cashier they will collect the van later. So on 18/03 we contacted RAC to find out where our van is, they told us they don't know and can't tell us amything as its with a specialist department and they don't have a phone number but here's an email adress. We are now on 22/03 and we have been contacted by the police to say that one of our vans has been dumped at Carlisle todhills rest area, yes almost 1 week on and it's still in the same place!!! REDICULOUS!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY THEY ARE THE CHEAPEST FOR A REASON!!! Reviewed on: 22nd March 2023

Wouldn't honour valid policy.

Wouldn't honour valid policy. They will weasel out of your policy in any way they can to charge you more. After a terrible week of saying goodbye to a loved one my car broke down and they wouldn't collect it unless I paid over £100 more despite having a valid policy.They will let you down Reviewed on: 6th July 2024

Avoid using RAC at all cost, I would have been left for 12 hours in -3 while in the middle of Wales if it wasn't for the traffic police. Also onward travel is a joke and don't answer the point. To make this better they also lost my car on the way back home taken it to the wrong location. Complaint made to RAC who advised there's nothing they can do. Would highly recommend using another recovery company.shocking service and even worse feedback. Reviewed on: 6th June 2024

Awful customer service department.

Awful customer service department. I am still awaiting a resolution of my complaint that was raised over 6 weeks ago. I was misled into purchasing a premium battery from RAC at great expense and was told to reach out to their customer service department by their own engineer as he said they should address the issue given the circumstances. However, 6 weeks on and still no resolution from RAC customer service. They asked for evidence to be sent of the engineer selling the battery which I have said I will send to them, however, now they are attempting to avoid my emails and refusing to accept the evidence to be sent. I will continue to chase a resolution to my complaint and have notified independent dispute resolution services. Reviewed on: 3rd June 2024

Punctures NOT covered

I've been with them maybe 10 years now and I don't think I've had one call out. I got a punchure by hitting a stone and was told that it's driver error so your not covered. This is despite thier T&C saying that they do come out for punchures. Grim!! Reviewed on: 26th May 2024

Your service is a joke,

Your service is a joke, firstly you send a guy who charges me money to add brake fluid which made no difference to the issue, but as he never tried to move the car he didnt know if he had fixed it or not I then called for someone to come again, and it was getting later and later so I called again and said come in the morning - which someone eventually did past 10am - he was also trying to say it was ok until I insisted he meoved the car to see the issue - he then agreed it was undrivable and took it to the garage to get mended I called the next morning to get onward travel as I pay for and was told that I was too late is has to be done within 24 hours of the original call - which would have been impossible because it took longer than that to get someone to agree the car had an issue - I argued this and was told after some time I could have a car On hearing from Enterprise they have no cars avaliable today - which is not true as I could book a car with them direct from the same location online with no issue - when I called and spoke to onward travel - after another long wait - am told tough luck if there is no car avliable I just have to wait until there is one Why am I paying you - probably if i hadnt driven the car after you first engineer said it was ok then the problem would have been less bad, plus I have to argue to get any service and then Im left high and dry with no car JUST A JOKE I want to cancel this service because there is NO service given Reviewed on: 24th April 2024

Waited 6 hours and then left stranded

Yesterday I broke down 16 miles from home. I had to wait 6 hours for the RAC to come out. The guy did a diagnostic on my car and then checked my oil level. There was to much oil in the car so he told me he had to stop and could not do anything else for me. He just left me there. This is the customer service level you will get from the RAC. Broke down in the middle of nowhere with 3 young chi...

Broke down in the middle of nowhere with 3 young children one being disabled. The RAC took 13.5 hours to get to us, left us in the dark and cold over night with constant promises of arrival times. It was awful, we felt very vulnerable and unsafe. The RAC don’t care about you or your circumstances, they just want you money and then will supply you with a sub standard service. AWFUL!! RAC uses bad car batteries

I paid for brand new battery but they fitted one that is not able to hold charge right after they installed it. Their complaint system sends you back to breakdown team, so you have to breakdown again to get help.
