I regularly visit the Halstead branch of the Saffron Building Society and always find the staff friendly and efficient. I also drive elderly and disabled neighbours there to do their banking and the staff are always very patient and accommodating, especially Mr Sam Smith, who is very often on the front desk. In this digital age, it is great to still have a traditional building society nearby. Reviewed on: 19th January 2026

Resetting online access

I had to call Saffron after my account was locked, as I had got the password wrong. I spoke to Ali, who reset it for me and offered to stay on the line while I tried to log in again. I didn't take him up on this and predictably got something wrong again. When I rang back I was surprised to speak to Ali again - it's pretty rare to speak to the same person twice on helplines. He was very patient in explaining clearly what I needed to do and making sure that it worked this time. Reviewed on: 19th January 2026
