Card renewal - bad practice

2 male operatives didn't give the correct information and the female operative tried her best but her boss has not deemed my complaint important enough to get back to me. I received a letter from Saga stating my credit card had expired and to ring them with new details. On giving the details of my card, immediate payment for my car insurance was taken from my bank account.At no time was I told this would happen and no one would cancel the payment which was not due for 3 another 3weeks. I was told to cancel it through my bank .They told me the payment was ",pending "so it couldn't be done and to go back to Saga. This practice should be made clear in their letter or by the operative before taking my card details. It has caused me financial embarrassment and disappointment as well 2hrs on the phone trying to deal with this..I will not be renewing my insurance with Saga next year for sure Reviewed on: 25th April 2023

Thought I was too young for Saga

Experience should be recognised

The most important aspect of going with Saga at least for me, is that you have to be 50 years old before they will insure you. This means that customers are not paying for younger less experienced drivers and irresponsible drivers that have performance cars that they can’t handle in an emergency situation. That’s not to say all young drivers are irresponsible drivers either. But the experience gained from driving longer distances and frequently since being 18 etc should be awarded some recognition and Saga does just that. Thank you Reviewed on: 13th August 2025
