Card renewal - bad practice

2 male operatives didn't give the correct information and the female operative tried her best but her boss has not deemed my complaint important enough to get back to me. I received a letter from Saga stating my credit card had expired and to ring them with new details. On giving the details of my card, immediate payment for my car insurance was taken from my bank account.At no time was I told this would happen and no one would cancel the payment which was not due for 3 another 3weeks. I was told to cancel it through my bank .They told me the payment was ",pending "so it couldn't be done and to go back to Saga. This practice should be made clear in their letter or by the operative before taking my card details. It has caused me financial embarrassment and disappointment as well 2hrs on the phone trying to deal with this..I will not be renewing my insurance with Saga next year for sure Reviewed on: 25th April 2023

STAY CLEAR OF SAGA.

STAY CLEAR OF SAGA. 14 months spent trying to sort out a straight forward shunt where van ran into my parked car with 3 family members on board.TP agreed he was responsible. 2 months later received policy invite. I Hit parked third party and 183% increase in premium. Complained twice adding photos. Sent complaints off for investigation. WHY? Photos were conclusive. 2 weeks later need to insure my car with anybody but Saga. Contact Saga to check if accident details had been updated. No. Asked agent to update description. No. But then suggests I take out another policy with .Saga. Left it to him. Insured with LivVic. To be on safe side, told agent of claim and not surprisingly 50% increase. Investigations by Saga a waste of time with senior exec reporting claim was an error (that somehow got worse during investigation and Saga stood by premium. Basically I had insured with another and she couldn't care a. toss. Contacted Ombudsman. Turned out to be as bad as Saga and extremely bias in that they could see Saga had done no wrong. Asked about Saga agent who wanted to sell me a policy. Said it was just a mock up. Showed them emails. No comment. In meantime Ombudsman agreed with Saga that there was no reason for them to recompense me for additional premium that was solely down to Saga failing to remove the false description from my policy. Who is the biggest criminal? My report is unbelievable, but genuine. Thank you for reading. Reviewed on: 18th July 2025
