Online banking and security excellent

I've found online banking with this account incredibly easy. Setting up and managing one-off payments, direct debits and standing orders is very quick, as was increasing my overdraft. I also like the fact that Santander will temporarily hold any suspicious (or new) large payments until they've called you to verify they're legitimate. It's an automated voice service but again it's very clear and intuitive. Reviewed on: 10th August 2015

Avoid at all cost. Awful customer service! Removed my overdraft without notice or explanation (only after taking out a credit card with them-was not told it was one or the other as would have gone else where). Started recieving "managing debt" or "we're here to help" emails after using the credit card- despite never missing a payment with them or anyone else. excellent credit rating (that Santander has now severely impacted)and the "debt" being the use of their new interest free credit card). Raised this as a complaint 2 months ago was advised a manager would call me back, but still no response. Went into branch to raise it again and additional issues-they are now slowing down or witholding payments to other companies(payments that previously always cleared instantly are now taking over a week and not even showing as pending, direct debits are now leaving my account late despite having more than enough funds), this time was not given a chance to speak, was then handed a print out of a letter i should have received 2 months ago stating the complaint had been discussed/we couldnt come to an agreement(never happened). Tried to raise that as an issue in itself along with the rude member of staff I have just spoken to-was again refused the ability to speak to a manager and instead referred to the fraud department despite it having nothing to do with fraud other than on the part of Santander who are fraudulently with holding my money from any company I try to make a payment to. Long term customer but sadly the customer service is still getting progressively worse rather than better. BANKING AS IT SHOULD BE

THE STAFF ARE WELL TRAINED AND HELPFUL.. THE INTERNET SITE IS EASY TO USE AND GIVES YOU ALL THE INFORMATION YOU NEED, SUCH AS THE RATE OF INTEREST ON EACH ACCOUNT. TRANSFER BETWEEN ACCOUNTS IS SIMPLE AS IS THE INTERNET BANKING. Reviewed on: 25th March 2026

Reliable banking

Been a Santander customer 30 years and never had any problems. Always great customer service in store or on line. Very easy to deal with. Also took out savings and now on 2nd mortgage with them. Will always rave about Santander! Reviewed on: 25th March 2026

Good cash back in bills which offsets the monthly fee but the best thing is the linked savings - the Edge savings account at 6% on up to £4,000, and the regular saver at 5% Reviewed on: 24th March 2026

Good app and cashback option

I find the app easy to navigate and understand. I like the rewards/cashback option. I'd like to make more use of the money manager section but its not as intuitive. Reviewed on: 24th March 2026
