Stay Well Clear of Santander

The worst bank and customer service on the planet! I have had a lock placed on my account and the reason they gave me was that i have used contactless payment too much. Now considering i have spent the last 3 weeks in Singapore and never use the card as i dont want to pay their extortionate rates. I transfer from the bank to Wise. Now they have blocked it and tell me i have to buy something in Singapore and put my pin number in to release the block. Its the only way i can unblock it! Santander are a joke and i shall be closing the account down because of this. Complete failures! still waiting on the line for the fraud team to unblock this bar and been waiting over an hour so far. i am stuck in Singapore without access to my money. EASY CASHBACK

THIS ACCOUNT GIVES CASHBACK ON UTILITIY BILLS AND SOME SPENDING - UP TO 3 PER CENT. IT'S NOT A LOT BUT FOR BILLS AND SPENDING ALREADY COMMITTED TO ITS NICE TO GET SOMETHING BACK ON TOP OF THE INTEREST. Reviewed on: 6th June 2023

The account that pays

Since opening my 123 account with Santander I have earned over £2,000 through interest and cashback on bills. If I had stayed with my old account I would have earned nothing. Reviewed on: 3rd June 2023

Very good but not perfect

Generally speaking my experience with Santander bank has been positive. However, there are one or two niggling inconveniences. For example, when setting up a standing order, if a date for payment coincides with a Bank Holiday, the customer if not forewarned about this and the standing order request is unsuccessful. It is only when the bank is contacted that the problem is explained and the customer needs to go through the whole setting up process again. Reviewed on: 2nd June 2023

Satisfactory account

This account gives rewards for certain direct debits, so if you have as many as possible you can earn more than the monthly fee. Reviewed on: 1st June 2023

Quality account with excellent perks that is easy to use

Supporter of Fossil Fuels

I left Santander, after 20+ years of loyalty, when I discovered they continue to provide banking services to the fossil fuel giants who continue to reap huge profits and devastate the future for our children, by continuing to extract and develop carbon based fuels as opposed to diverting ALL their efforts and amassed wealth into non carbon based energy solutions. The banks and the governments seem to be ingrained in our on-going short terms support of these giants who have made good from the earths resources, but refuse to make good for the future. Great opening bonus and cashback.

I moved to Santander because they were offering me a great opening bonus for transferring accounts, plus cashback on my regular payments. When you deduct the cashback from the monthly fee I am always better off with this account. Reviewed on: 31st May 2023
