Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Step Change likely saved my life. I was spiralling into debt I couldn’t get out of because of interest charges and Step Change offered me a life raft. I will never not be grateful for such an incredible company. Reviewed on: 1st May 2024

Heavy weight lifted off shoulders

I was really nervous at first when contacting Step Change as I thought I would be judged but I wasn't and I would highly recommend Step Change. I went through all my debt and what money goes on and goes out and we came up with a debt plan. Been debt free since March and it's the best feeling ever. Amazing Organisation

My husband & I found ourselves in a lot of trouble/debt when my husband too k early retirement & I struggled to hold down a job due to disabilities. Initially we still lived as though we were both high earners but came crashing down a couple of years later. Stepchange we amazing & so helpful. We currently have a DM plan in place & are managing ok. The stress levels are so much lower now, we are actually able to smile & even laugh. We appreciate this free organisation so much, the help has been fantastic & the pressure of not having to deal directly with our creditors but Stepchange to do it in our behalf is so brilliant, the thought of that terrified me. Stability and Reliability

As a result of knowing exactly how much I need to pay out and when, I have a lot more stability in my life in general. I have started to look for savings in my various outgoings but at the same time realise that there are some things that I can't change, for example in relation to keeping a pet. I can cut back on what I eat and do, pets can't and they are what keep me going as without my dogs I would be unable to survive. Life would be nothing without them. Reviewed on: 1st May 2024
