Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Life saver!!

I was overwhelmed and desperate, and had never felt so low. I was embarrassed too. My friend told me to contact Stepchange. I was hesitant at first due to being so embarrassed and feeling afraid of my debts. The phone was ringing of the hook. I rang Stepchange, the lady was so very kind and understanding and helped me complete the financial documents, then basically took over and dealt with the companies involved. No more nasty calls! And I am paying my debts too, albeit at an amount I can now afford. They saved my life and that is no exaggeration!! Reviewed on: 12th August 2022

The Best Debt Management Company

I was referred to Stepchange when my husband left me with a huge credit card bill that I had no way of paying as I'm disabled and was unable to work. I buried my head in the sand at first as i was so embarrassed which wasn't the best thing to do as the credit card company piled on the interest onto my debt to the tune of another £4,000! Eventually I plucked up the courage to phone StepChange and they couldn't have been nicer. They put me at ease and weren't judgemental and helped me to work out a debt management plan that helped me to repay the debt at a manageable amount every month. They reviewed my budget every year to make sure I could manage to repay the amount without struggling. Once your debt management plan is in place you can also do your yearly review online instead of speaking to an advisor which I did once and found so easy to do. I made my last payment a few days ago and i can't believe that I'm now DEBT FREE!!! A few years ago I thought I'd never see this day and now it's here. I'm used to putting that amount of money away each month so now I will continue to put that money away into my savings and it will help me to save for a rainy day. I will never have another credit card again. Thanks to StepChange I'm now in a position I never thought I could achieve and I'd like to say a massive thank you to all at StepChange for the help I've received over the last few years. I would recommend StepChange to everyone in debt and don't be afraid to phone them up because they are so helpful and understanding and above all they won't judge you. A life saver!

CCCS, with a name change to Step Change has been instrumental in helping me manage a debt management plan since 2008; with their help I have been able to pay off £50,000/- to my creditors, and by September 2024, I should be debt free!
