Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

StepChange saved my life during the Pandemic

Who knew a Pandemic for Covid-19 would happen!? I worked in the Entertainment and Hospitality industry which completely collapsed several times, open, closed, open, closed was going on a lot in 2020 into 2021, I was not eligible for Furlough so was living on Credit Cards thinking it cant last long! How wrong I was! the debts mounted up and no employment on the horizon, finally I turned to StepChange who thankfully helped me contact the companies I was in debt to and helped me make a Debt Management Plan, I am eternally grateful to them, they saved my life I had no idea how to cope and they offered me solutions - I am still paying my debts and will never use a Credit Card again but at least I am on track to a finish date - I am now a Pensioner and dont have good prospects for money, however I am doing my best with the help of StepChange and the good will of the companies that I rose the debts with Reviewed on: 25th May 2025

I find this the most difficult thing of all to do. and without guidance I would be lost, but the financial advisors, are so proffessional at doing this, you are helped through it. I must admit to having got it wrong due to nerves, but thank goodness ge help. Reviewed on: 25th May 2025

I was struggling with debt to the stage it was affecting my health. I then heard about Step Change, so I contacted them, and I am glad I did, and they set up debt management plan which I could afford, and it helped me a lot and stopped all the calls. Reviewed on: 25th May 2025
