Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Perfectly simple to work through and you're cared for!

I sorted my mums debt put for her via Stepchange. I was talked through her budget which was completed quickly and I was prompted when I wasn't sure about something and that relieved a lot of my mums anxiety knowing that they were helpful and the hard part was already done. Once we'd given the creditor details we were then told what her repayments would be to each account she owed on. It was really that quickly!!! The repayments were more than manageable and the yearly reviews were done by me each time, which only took another few minutes to update her budget. What more can I say, don't fret about your debt, the first step is making that phone call, you won't be judged and you'll be wondering why you didn't do it sooner!!! Reviewed on: 25th May 2025

Lifted the weight off my shoulders

I was at my whits end, anxious and depressed about my debts, I spoke to Step Change and went through everything with me, sorted out an affordable monthly repayment schedule and took all the pressure off. Death of the love of your life.

From the time I realised I had made many mistakes after my Husbands sudden death at 48. I found him dead after putting a fence up together it was a heart attack, I was diagnosed with PTSD as I did CPR to no avail. I now think there are safe guards in place. Decisions I made were random not thought of, just random! Step change has honestly saved my life as I had a failed suicide attempt, they have given me my life back! Reviewed on: 25th May 2025
