Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Step Change literally saved my life.

Step Change literally saved my life. I was a suicide point. Unable to cope with my debts and very little money coming in. No where to turn, until I saw a number for step change. A weight has been lifted from my mind.

I have felt that a weight has been lifted from my mind. I got into debt through no fault of my own 2 years ago I was diagnosed with throat cancer I've had lots of radiotherapy and gladly I'm clear over the cancer. But because of it I lost my business that left me with only pension to live on I tried to pay my bills for awhile but in the end and the cost of living going up and up I couldn't maintain it.
