Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Gave us our life back

We honestly cannot thank StepChange enough for the help and support they have given me and my husband. When you are struggling with debt it can feel overwhelming, embarrassing and lonely, but from the very first conversation they treated us with kindness, respect and absolutely no judgement. They took the time to listen, explain everything clearly and help us find a solution that works for us. One of the biggest things for us is that the service is completely free. Every penny we pay goes towards clearing our debts rather than paying expensive fees, which has made such a huge difference. For the first time in a long time we actually feel in control and able to breathe again. The stress and worry has reduced so much knowing we have support and a proper plan in place. Invaluable

I had been in debt for a long time and when I found someone who took the embarrassment and stress out of repaying I couldn't believe it. They dealt with everything! All the scary creditors letters all the pushy letters and emails. Then the repayments. This service has been truly invaluable and I can not be more grateful for them and this service. SOME PEOPLE CANT CALL ON A PHONE !.

Slow to answer emails and when they do it say please call us. Not every one has a phone or access to one, some people maybe are deaf or hearing impaired and some people hate talking on a phone due to Depression or anxiety. I my self sufferings the latter. A positive step
