Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

I had got myself into a serious debt situation and had tried to solve the issue by trying to use multiple credit cards but that did not work it made everything worse. I turned to Stepchange who helped me to manage my repayments and how to budget my incoming and out going finances. The relif from the anxiety I had brought on myself was immense. Stepchange were kind and supportive and non judgemental everystep of the way and I can only recommend their positive excellence to anyone who is getting into uncontrollable debt. Don’t hesitate call them they will help you

I was in a lot of debt but step change sorted a debt management plan for me that I can afford. I don’t worry about it any more i pay the about I can afford each month and they do the rest. Best thing I ever did. My credit score has even improved as been on dmp over 6 years it’s all good. Life can go on with Stepchange.

When we started with Stepchange we had debts that were clearly unmanageable, but there organisation and forward planning soon had everything on the right path, and completely stopped all the harassment from chancer debt collectors. We never had any intention of running away from the debts, but Stepchange showed a way that it could be managed. Several years later and our managed debts are only 5, and a light at the end of the tunnel to being debt free is very visible. Reviewed on: 24th May 2025

Don’t be scared; ring them! You can do it.

From the very first phone call I was reassured and never made to feel like an idiot for the situation I’d got myself in. Talked through everything and came up with the best plan of action. Don't struggle alone!

I struggled in covid l. With furlough wage I fell behind with my debt and felt like I was drowning! I contacted Step change and the immediately helped eliminate those feelings. Suggested a plan for me, contacted my creditors, and I've never looked back. One manageable monthly payment and no harassment from the debt companies.I am no longer consumed with guilt or shame for getting into debt.I Will have paid everything off at the beginning of 2026.
