Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Helpful understanding and free service.

Totally understand your circumstances and do everything they possibly can to get your budget just right. I was apprehensive at first but didn't need to be they guide you through everything possible and your not left too short of funds. Reviewed on: 27th May 2026

Getting on top

Got into debt with no real idea of how to cope StepChange helped me through the process of making real decisions of affordability and peace of mind knowing I'm moving in the direction of getting everything sorted and having a goal to look forward too rather than a constant fear of debt collectors/ baliffs turning up and the constant letters.
