Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

New single Mum 30k debt & living off credit

16 years ago I had nearly 30k worth of debt was a single mum with a new baby & felt helpless - Stepchange changed all that I entered into a DMP & I will be debt free next year. They not only helped me sort a payment plan reasssured me & dealt with my creditors but they taught me how to love without credit & within my means & I will be forever grateful. - Stepchange thank you your support changed my life. Outstanding support

After a major change in my personal circumstances i was no longer able to afford my debts. Stepchange were amazingly supportive from day 1 and gave me multiple options from a debt management plan to bankruptcy. They took the added stress from me when creditors were chasing me by helping to create a realistic budget to repay my debts. 7 years later i am now completely debt free. On a couple of occasions during my dmp i ran into financial trouble and they allowed me a couple of payment holidays whichtook a lot of pressure off me. I cannot speak highly enough about Stepchange and what they have done since 2018. I am not sure that i would have survived the stress without them. Reviewed on: 24th May 2025
