A friend told me about step change I was so worried about my dept paying out more than I could I wouldn't no what I would of done without there help its Excellent service allows me to carry on without that worry . Reviewed on: 27th May 2025

When I was in serious debt over £20,000 I had no one...

When I was in serious debt over £20,000 I had no one to turn to. I felt ashamed, overwhelmed and hopeless. I heard an ad for step change on the radio and I made the initial call. Straight away from that first night in September 2021 I felt there was hope. For the first time in years I was being proactive.I felt so much support. Once Step Change stepped in most of my lenders became understanding and supportive too. now in June 2025 I’m debt free with only one default on credit file (Halifax £750 although all was repaid) my other lenders supported me and didn’t hold it against me. . Now I’m debt free with a credit rating of 909!!! I can’t praise Step Change enough. They really are an amazing charity!!! Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025

A wise friend in troubled times

The call handler took time to review my case in detail to create a plan that was perfect for me. It’s great making one, affordable monthly payment and knowing that my debt is being well managed. This organization helped us resolve our financial issues. We didn’t even notice how we ended up surrounded by such a huge amount of debt — it happened so quickly that we couldn’t understand how we got there. When we started looking for a way out of this situation, we contacted several organizations, but we liked StepChange the most. Firstly, because their agreement is clear, transparent, and easy to understand. We could see exactly what documents we were signing and what we were agreeing to — that was the deciding factor in turning to them for help. And the organization didn’t charge any additional fees for their services. I’m truly grateful for the support we’re receiving in dealing with our financial difficulties. We chose a repayment plan that allows us to pay back the full amount of debt, because I believe it’s only fair — if money came into our use, it should be fully returned. Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025
