Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Very good experience .

Very good experience . Listening ears. Made me feel real comfortable letting me know they’re there to help people like me. I was very depressed and stressed out, but after contacting them. If you are serious about getting your life together again, step change, debt, advice will help you take the pressure off. Then you can begin to rebuild not just your economics but also your self-respect, in the series with a tear in my eye. Cannot recommend them enough!

Cannot recommend this company enough. A huge weight has been lifted off my mind since they took over the handling of my debts. It can feel both overwhelming and embarrassing when we have debts but every member of staff i have spoken too since first arranging my debt management plan years ago has been very understanding and professional without being patronising. If you find yourself with unbearable debts, no matter the amount, just give them a call. You will be eternally thankful that you did! Reviewed on: 11th May 2026

I was really struggling trying to get my debts paid...

I was really struggling trying to get my debts paid off but StepChange were so incredibly helpful. They talked me through my options with no judgement and helped me set up a manageable payment that I could comfortable afford. Once a plan is in place there is the option to update them with any changes to income and to seek for assistance along the way. This charity has allowed me to breath easy and enjoy life again! I went from being overwhelmed and embarrassed when I first contacted them for help with my state of finances to feeling more in control and able to breathe whilst paying back every penny without dealing with pushy creditors.
