Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Not really helpful for me

Not really helpful for me, because it still didn't allow me to continue filling out the form and I have to call by phone. Since I don't fully understand, I have to wait for my daughter to become free so she can make the call. Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025

Some of the time they wanted more than I could afford based on your budget eg for a while I was paying £200 gas and electric and 100 water rates which they refused to accept why it was so hard to believe i don't know Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025
