Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Debt Advice and help.

Step Change are a really good charity that helps people like me sort out our debt & helps to take the Anxiety and pressure off at a difficult time. It is difficult when you lose your job & you can no longer afford to pay one's bills. Step Change helped me to come to a solution without making me feel like a criminal. They put me to ease. I contacted step change about 5 years ago with around 20K worth of debt. A plan was devised which allowed me to live and pay off debts. Debts now down to around 9K Each review is made simple for me and each year I pay a small increase. Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025
