Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

After marriage break up I was left with so many debt...

After marriage break up I was left with so many debts and no idea how to tackle it. I was at the end of my tether and it was massively affecting my mental & physical health. After contacting step change they massively helped with sorting out and asking my debts . Without constant threats from collecting agencies . They were an absolute God send. Easy and pleasant to discuss your problems with.

Step Change have been very helpful right from the beginning of my relationship with them. I have an illness that causes me great anxiety and after going to them it has somewhat helped with that. They are all very easy to talk to and will spend as much time with me as I feel I need even though they are extremely busy much of the time. Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025

Such a brilliant charity

The thing that's good about Stepchange is they understand why people need help with debt and they are non-judgemental. You do a budget- which they will help you with if you need it and it is Stepchange who will work our what you can realistically afford to pay - and they then negotiate with your creditors on your behalf. What I like about Stepchange is that they are always there for you - even at your lowest point - they are on your side and will do their very best to work with you to get you over what can be a very difficult period in your life.
