Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

They help but U still take to Ur creditors

They are helping me but more often than enough I am still required to call debtors up and speak to them directly if there’s a problem. At times I wonder why we need a debt management agency. I had hope that I could speak directly your step change and they’d be the ones to speak to my creditors. However this isn’t the case - all they do is make the offer of payments and make the payments. I wasn’t told that one of my creditors had refused a payment plan and ended up overwhelmed and crying numerous times. I’m now resolved that if there’s a problem either me or my daughter has to call the credit card company and then call step change and sometimes even go back and to between them. This is why I wonder why we need to have them involved but it seems to give the credit card company some sort of reassurance and that allows me to just have one payment taken and shared between 3 so it’s easier . I have found stepchange absolutely brilliant as being in debt can come with humiliation and embarrassment for getting in such a predicament. Excellent team of angels

I was in a desperate situation and alone. I made a call and was. Very distressed. The person i spoke to was calm and gentle and treated me with care and compassion. Chatted with me once i was comfortable started to help me see things in perspective. I came off that call feeling hope. They have gone through everything with me. A God Send
