Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Stressful situation where left alone drawing in financial difficulties, due to my partner not working, I have made wrong financial decisions. Stepchange provided excellent options and advice.

Stepchange provided excellent options and advice, and when we decided what was right for us, they took our paperwork and set everything up, including negotiating interest free with all providers, and arranging the repayment amounts. They are still there 5 years on helping us as things change for us, such as renegotiating payments where needed. They have brought such peace of mind and I fully recommend. Reviewed on: 7th May 2026

I’m so thankful

When we bought our house everything that needed doing was thrown on a credit card to “deal with another day” but things kept coming and the day never came to deal with them. I was drowning in my debts and didn’t know where to turn. I thankfully found StepChange who literally helped me to take the steps to change my life.
