Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Stepchange has turned my life around

Stepchange has turned my life around and released me of my financial shadow that surrounded me. It’s been difficult to have such a limited amount of money each month but it’s made me more aware of my spending in general. They offer fantastic advice and I love how writing everything down in their budget annually - or more if I need- helps. I am nearly half way through paying bacj my debts and I feel such a sense of empowerment that Stepchange has given me. I don’t know what I would have done without them. Awful, slow and incompetent.

Impossible to contact (over an hour wait or they just cut you off), and get basic information wrong even when provided multiple times and multiple ways. The inline portal has very limited functionality and isn’t user friendly. They are also super slow at implementing anything, all of which just adds to stress Reviewed on: 6th May 2026
