Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Turn worry into relief!

I was really worried so i turned to Stepchange for advice. They helped me to plan a budget to pay only what i could afford. At first - probably through pride- i was a little over confident in what i could offer but this was re-assessed when i called them for help again. I finally admitted i needed help!!!

I was in denial about my debt but after getting the courage to say it outloud to someone who didn't know me, I instantly realised I had made the first step into sorting it out!! I have over the last few years spoken to a few different people and I have never once thought that I was being judged or made to feel bad. I am nearly debt free and it is well done to me but a massive thank you to everyone that has helped along the way. Without Stepchange I dont think I would be where I am now!!!
