Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

I was ashamed of my spiralling debt after an abusive marriage I got into huge amount of debt. I didn't realise how poor my mental health was and I was spending irresponsibly. I was drowning each month trying to pay my debts but the interest was adding up and I couldn't cope and that's when I plucked up the courage to contact stepchange. Very helpful. Calms the nerves.

StepChange were very helpful and patient throughout the whole process, from informing me about the options available to me and their suitability for my circumstances to form completion and instructions on how to address issues with county courts. The process from start to finish is simple and straightforward and the addition of them implementing a period of breathing space also contribituted to easing any immediate worries that I had. Kind, supportive and fantastic staff

I was really worried and step change completely helped me. My journey with them has been excellent. My husband passed away after 18 months of starting our plan and the staff were so incredibly emphatic and supportive.
