Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Don't leave it!!!!!!!!! Get help ASAP.

They have really helped me in getting my finances in order. Getting into debt due of the cost of living crisis a few years ago was a hard pill to swallow. But Step Change have helped me get everything in order so I can get it paid off in a way that I'm able to sustain, so I can then move on in life debt free. Understanding your difficulties

I found myself in financial situation after a period of serious ill health and being ill health retired from work, this had a major impact on income and despite lifestyle changes still found it impossible to manage to keep up with outgoings, I decided to swallow my pride and give Step Change a call, I was given all the options available to me to help in the longer term and whilst it will take a few years to become debt free it has helped immensely and I feel more in control Reviewed on: 6th May 2026
