Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

They are good at setting up debt repayment plans.

They are good at setting up debt repayment plans. However not very good at answering questions relating to legal aspects of your debts. There are usually long waits when trying to contact them. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026

The Stepchange service has been life saving

The Stepchange service has been life saving, I had got into a real mess financially, I can now sleep without worrying about money. The whole process was fast and easy and best of all, free. Most creditors have stopped all interest. Can recommend Stepchange highly enough. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026

Thank you Step Change! For your positive action.

I have been with Step change for around 10 years or more now and they have stepped me gently through the debt management process thru to where I am one year to go to being debt free. It was very stressful getting everything set up at first but Step Change took all the stress out of it in setting me up on a debt management plan where I could pay back all my debts equally whilst also making me see the reality of my situation. I couldn’t have done this without them. They were there for me when I didn’t have a clue as to how about setting up the repayment process. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026

Peace of mind

Since I first rung Step Change up they are 100% reliable. They give you as much advice as possible. Their first thoughts is the Customer every member of staff that I’ve ever been in contact with has the same attitude incredibly friendly helpful reliable and very knowledgeable.
