Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Stepchange made my life better and less stressful.

Stepchage helped me when during lockdown I became overwhelmed with all the credit bills building up. My husband had no work and as a new business he received no help from the government.It became down to me to try and juggle a lot of outstanding debts. I contacted Stepchange after reading about them, they took over the management of all my debts and arranged payment plans with all the companies, all I need to do is pay a set monthly amount and they do the rest. The monthly amount is much lower than I was paying out before to all the different bills. Since doing stepchange , I have managed to pay off a huge chunk of the debt , and not built anymore up again. I was really depressed and thought that there was no way out of my predicament. It was my own doing then I heard about Stepchange. I made a call and the lovely lady I spoke to helped me without judgement. I ha ve managed now to keep on track and have paid a large chunk off my debt. I was getting overwhelmed with my money worries and...

I was getting overwhelmed with my money worries and a creditor mentioned step change to me. I contacted them and they were really helpful. They never made me feel inadequate that I couldn't manage my finances. They went through everything with me and we made a plan. It has been liberating that I can finally breathe again.
