Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

The only issue I had was the wait to get through to...

The only issue I had was the wait to get through to someone. But as soon as I did, the advisor was so helpful, non-judgemental and really out me at ease. He also helped me so much with my query - with a better result than I had hoped for. A massive weight lifted off my shoulders

I don’t know what I would have done without the help of StepChange. I feel like a massive weight has been lifted and I can start living again. Light in the tunnel

At the time of contacting StepChange I was very distraught but also the questionnaire was quite challenging to fill in. However once I got in contact with the advisor who was very patience and understanding everything start falling into place. Before I knew it I had an affordable plan in place to pay my debtors and less of sleepless nights. My advice to others are there is light in the tunnel with Stepchange Reviewed on: 6th May 2026
