Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

StepChange is an amazing service !

StepChange is an amazing service ! My husband had lost his job and we thought we were going to lose our home. Step change helped us get our finances back on track and helped us to keep our home ! I was so worried about my debts then got introduced...

I was so worried about my debts then got introduced to Step Change through CAB, I rang them, the advisor listened was not judgemental. She advised me on what to do and gave me reassurance that they would work with me to get the best option of becoming debt free. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026

Able to breathe again!

I had too much credit card debt across many lenders. I gave the call centre a call and spoke to a member of staff who listened and then gave me a list of options to choose from. There was no pushing towards a particular resolution and the consequences of each were made clear. Once I had decided the "joining" was easy and my creditors stopped contacting me. The regular reminders to review my outgoings is also made easy, so important in the current economic climate. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026

Brilliant team

Every time I have contacted Stepchange I have been treated with the utmost respect and understanding. The staff are friendly and always willing to listen to my worries and concerns.
