Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Extremely unprofessional

Anytime I try to ring there are 50+ in the queue. They just started paying debtors without making any agreements with them (so I'm paying more interest than the payments that go in) . They did NOT pay the only priority debt - council tax arrears - so even though I paid stepchange, I still had a bayliff at the door wanting to seize my and my landlords goods. Breathing again

Stepchange is life changing.

Stepchange is life changing. At the start i was worrying about debt and trying to balance all the creditors. I was in a really low place when i found stepchange and they helped me from start to finish, from sorting my budget to getting all my accounts connected. I cannot recommend them enough for anyone who is struggling with debt payments. Money problems can be very mentally exhausting but stepchange really give peace of mind. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026

Excellent customer service and peace of mind

Starting the process of setting up a DMP was daunting, but I was helped every step of the way. Whenever I have called to discuss my account, the staff have always been friendly, warm and actually listen to you. My DMP has genuinely changed my life for the better. I no longer wake up dreading repayments and feel like I'm in control of changing my approach to debt and finances. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026
