It was absolutely fantastic help from start to finish.

It was absolutely fantastic help from start to finish. It took 8 days in total. I'm sitting here now a lot happier than I was 3 weeks ago. They put me forward (against their recommendation) for a DRO, which was passed 2 weeks ago, and because I have their backing, I have been able to liaise with my creditors a lot easier, and they have actually helped me due to my underlying health issues. Thank you to them all from Stepchange and also Money Wellness (the people who organised my finances and submitted my DRO application) From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU. Life saving advice and practise

End of mortgage favourable terms and redundancy coincided with credit crunch. I was despondent about my future and had dark thoughts. Contacting StepChange was literally a lifesaver. When I had to give up nursing when the pandemic hit, I was in dire straits as I had been using my credit cards quite a lot. My income fell by 2/3rds, and my bank suggested I contact Stepchange. They helped me to prioritise my finances, reduce my outgoings and pay a little each month to pay off my credit cards. The people I spoke to at Stepchangewere empathic, non-judgemental and offered the advice I needed to make the change from not being able to see way out of my debt, to handling it and not having to worry about it so much. I was distraught about my huge debt and in a very dark place. I felt overwhelmed and also embarrassed that things had got so bad. I never meant to borrow more than I could afford to pay back. But my circumstances in life changed and I tried to manage it myself until I couldn’t see a way out.
