I didn’t know where to turn when I was told I had a brain tumour and couldn’t work, lost my income and could no longer afford my payments to credit card companies. StepChange saved me from financial ruin.

StepChange saved me from financial ruin. I had over £20,000 of debt across multiple debtors and struggling to make minimum payments above what I was paying in interest. The advisor I spoke to was very helpful creating a budget and their website also gave some ranges of expenditure for people in similar living situations which is very helpful if you're not great at budgeting - probably one of the main reasons for getting into debt in the first place. The whole process was really easy and I felt a weight come off my shoulders knowing they would contact all the companies on my behalf and negotiate a payment plan that meant I could actually pay off what I owe.
