Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

A real life saver

We had major debts and were really struggling to see a way we could cope. Having a debt management plan gave us affordable repayments and we are now 18 months away from being debt free with a decent credit rating. It has also taught us to reserve credit and loans for essential things only. We don’t have overdrafts and we are now able to get credit when we really need it. For example for a new car that we need for work. We are now much better at budgeting and only spending what we have. Stepchange were a lifeline for me.

Stepchange were a lifeline for me. They talked me through everything and certainly eased my mind and convinced me that there was light at the end of the tunnel. They sorted my debt problems out and with regular monthly payments I am debt free. They negotiated with my creditors which stopped me getting threatening letters from creditors.
