Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Availability straightforward. Easily accessible. Staff helpful and knowledgeable. They are not judgemental. Provides advice and or information required . HELPED ME SORT ALL MY CREDITORS.

I WENT TO THEM FOR HELP ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO, WAS DESPERATE & BEING CHASED & THREATENED BY A CREDIT CARD COMPANY. THEY LISTENED, HELPED ME WITH EVERYTHING I NEEDED & ACTED ON MY BEHALF. IT ALL GOT SORTED OUT & THEY GOT ME A MONTH ARRANGEMENT SET UP WITH MY CREDITORS, SOMETHING I CAN MANAGE. COULD FINALLY SLEEP AT NIGHT AFTER THEIR HELP,. Reviewed on: 14th May 2024

I got into debt after losing my job and having to use credit cards to live. I almost chose a Debt Management Plan with another company who charged for the service but then a colleague told me about StepChange. I’m so glad I went with them. Everything was explained in detail, the staff were so helpful. Each year my budget was reviewed to make sure I was left with enough money to live on. StepChange dealt with all the CC companies I had accounts with and arranged for the interest to be frozen to give me a chance to get out of debt. And the best thing is it’s a free service! I couldn’t have got out of debt without StepChange. Every time I contacted them, even throughout Covid lockdown, they were helpful.
