Great first step.

Great first step. Admitting you have a problem with debt/money is the major first hurdle but StepChange are there to help and not judge. The initial process is a little time consuming but is necessary to make sure the solution suits your needs. I'm extremely glad I got in contact with StepChange and I'm happy to say that after 5 years I am debt free and no longer dreading the doorbell ringing or the letters the postman is delivering. StepChange gave me back a positive outlook and I hope I never have to use them again, but so glad they were there when I needed that help. Reviewed on: 7th May 2024

Excellent service from Stepchange....

Stepchange have completely turned my life around for the better. Due to unforeseen circumstances my finances were effected and this had a negative impact. I contacted Stepchange who went through my options and not once did I feel I was judged or being patronised. Although I speak to different advisors when I have to make contact with them every one have been so helpful and supportive. I have one more year to go before I am debt free but I couldn't have done any of this without their help. In November 2019, I was forced to face my financial situation. It wasn’t pleasant, I couldn’t pay my debts, I didn’t have enough money to live on and I felt powerless and had a lot of shame. Calling Stepchange was one of the most difficult calls I’ve ever had to make but from the moment I spoke to someone there, things started to change. I felt first and foremost that someone was on my side and they helped me to believe I could move forward and be debt free one day. Now I won’t be debt free for a couple of years yet but I do know I will be. Working with Stepchange has changed me and my attitude towards money and having ‘things’. I am now in control of my financial situation, I live within my means and appreciate the things I have got. This approach of a step at a time, reviewing things regularly and the pastoral care provide is empowering in a way I can’t explain, and all this knowledge, support and care is provided by people I will never meet… I am grateful for all the support I have received so far and once I hit the zero balance, will be forever grateful as I will have complete control of my financial situation and therefore my life.
