Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

StepChange helped to give me back my life

I turned to StepChange as a last resort to sorting out my hideous debts, after separating from my ex-husband. They were very helpful and understanding; organised Breathing Space with all my debtors and helped me to work out what I could comfortably afford to pay off each month. I have been able to pay more when I could and pay less when times were harder. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Superb service delivered with compassion

I was in a state of very poor mental health when I first contacted StepChange (with the help of my friend). The advisors were compassionate, very helpful and clearly well trained in dealing with clients with mental health difficulties. They helped me find the right solution for my circumstances and now I am almost debt-free. Their online platform let me monitor my progress - clear and easy to understand. I dreaded having to phone StepChange as I felt guilty and ashamed at getting myself in such financial difficulty. It was a last chance call. But oh am I glad I did. Financial Help given (that was needed)
