Took an extra 60% off me above what was quoted

On the 4th November, I got a price to transfer my tesco car insurance from my old car to my new one: £106.22 The person I spoke to said the quote would be saved on their system, so on the day of transfer (1 week later, Saturday 11th November), all I needed to do was give my policy details and the switch would be simple. I purchased the car as planned and when I phoned through, they said they had no record of a call and then they bumped the transfer price up from £106 to £167!!! They left me stuck in a situation where I had no choice but to give in to a 60% increase. I complained but they reiterated that they (conveniently) could find no record of offering me that quote and therefore, case closed. NEVER AGAIN! Reviewed on: 12th November 2023

I have always had quick support from Tesco Bank with any enquiry that I have made regarding my car insurance. When changing my car, I received the paperwork e-mailed to me quickly to enable me to pass on to my workplace whilst I await a paper copy to sign and keep. Reviewed on: 18th July 2017

Every little helps

We were renewing my husband's car insurance and searching around for the best quotes. Tesco Bank came up with the best quote and on top of that, as he is a Tesco Club card holder, he got a further 5% discount. I don't know many insurance companies who quote you cheaply and then offer you a further discount. I would highly recommend these. Reviewed on: 15th July 2017

Poor customer service..... My daughter already paid the healthy sum of £1200 for the insurance as a new driver. Moved house a mile away and they wanted an extra £300 to change the address. Wont be renewing with them at any cost.... Reviewed on: 12th July 2017

Reasonable priced insurance. With added Breakdown Cover.

Tesco are a great alternative to other companies, they offer fantastic value for money. And something like breakdown cover is included, this is often something that is usually quite exspensive on top of other things. So it's great to see it included. Reviewed on: 6th July 2017

absolute disgust

Having been with Tescos for 18 months my daughter injured her arm and so came off my insurance, they wanted nearly £50 in fees, not content with that my insurance would only drop by £11 a month, staying at £58 a month, yet when we checked for a years insurance for me it was only £220 for a YEAR, to cancel my insurance and take out new insurance, they wanted £103 to CANCEL. Tesco start off cheap to get you in then slap ridiculous charges. AVOID this company unless you want ripping off. I AM FORCED TO GIVE THEM A STAR TO BE ABLE TO COMMENT THEY ARE NOT WORTH THAT. JUST JOINED & NERVOUS HAVING NOW READ EXTENSIVE REVIEWS OVER THE WEEKEND

It is a little premature to write an extensive review of Tesco Car Insurance because I have just joined up and am awaiting the documentation to arrive via the post. I am a little concerned though - having now had a chance to read all the reviews on-line. It is not adding to my confidence that the email that they have sent to me confirming my insurance is a 'donotreply' one and there is no alternative email offered in order to reach them. I am especially concerned about the fact that customers say that once there is an issue ie once one has to claim - there are gargantuan issues. The fact that automatic renewal without customer approval happens - also the red alert for a dodgy company. The fact that several people have had their policies CANCELLED AND WITHOUT NOTIFICATION - and find out when the police stop them - is even more dystopian and dysfunctional. I sincerely hope that I will be proved to be worrying needlessly and that I am proved 100 % wrong in my anxieties here - and that I can re -visit this review and update it with a positive tale. The other issue that is universal and that I have umbrage with is that there is no "other information" box when one purchases policies on-line. I have had a NON FAULT NON ACCIDENT NON ANYTHING something added against my name from a few years ago, I HAVE NO PROOF OF IT I HAVE NO RECALL OF IT THERE IS NOTHING WHATSOEVER SHOWN TO ME TO CORROBORATE THIS THE CENTRAL DATABASE IGNORE EMAILS AND THERE IS NO MEANS OF CONTACTING THEM OTHERWISE. IE There is some spurious - to all intents and purposes - made up nothing against my name that I can not detail when applying for a policy on-line - and there is no means of this being flagged up when I apply on-line.
