Tesco Car Insurance - Cheap for because they're crap

How do I give zero stars? I see lots of people praising Tesco Car Insurance for its value, but when you really need the insurance to do its job - pay out and help you in the event of a claim, then it's a completely different story. I used Tesco Car Insurance once and never again. Dealing with anyone in the claims department is useless. It's a case of stack them high, flog them cheap. They're simply shifting through mass cases with no empathy and will shaft you wherever they can. Why does the customer always have to fight for a just value? And if you think you're covered with a courtesy car, that's completely null and void if your car is written off - so no courtesy car when you need it the most! Tesco are cheap for a reason, because in the event of a claim you'll wish you paid extra to have a company that actually will deal with your case properly, that's a far cry from the Tesco's experience. To recommend Tesco Bank is a joke; I actively tell people to avoid them at all costs to avoid the misery and stress inflicted by Tesco. Don't say you haven't been warned! Can not every get through

My daughter got a little to close to another vehicle and scratch the other car.she has tried reporting it four times now and been on hold for 45mins plus and still hasn't managed to speak to anyone!! Then we get a text say that we have failed to report the accident and will be liable for the cost of the claim if we don't call them!!! Abousetly outraged you only see how good or bad the company is when you need them!. Still on hold wouldn't ever use this company again. Reviewed on: 17th November 2016

Highly recommend these guys! been with them 3 years for my car insurance and never a problem, renewal comes as planned every year and if i can find a cheaper quote they always do their best to beat it (and have managed) customer service is fantastic, helpful, quick and friendly Reviewed on: 14th November 2016

Wish I'd read the reviews first

Shocking customer service and complete incompetence. Took out a £1000 policy last week and told that the documents would be available on a portal link. The link had absolutely nothing there so I tried livechat (either offline or too busy) and then rang up three times trying to get it sorted, each call lasting about 20 minutes. Eventually, I was told their IT department would deal with the problem. I tried logging in today and my email address is no longer recognised! So after spending all that money I'm left with no contactable email, no access to their portal, no documents and absolutely no help. Reviewed on: 7th November 2016

This evening I received a text from Tesco bank, I quote "A/C Ending XXX . This is a message from Tesco Bank Fraud Department. It's important we speak with you regarding your account. Please call us on 0345 366 1281" I have to admit that this scarred the living skite out of me so I randf the number given immediately. After 16 minutes of hearing that Tesco was receiving an un precedented number of call ( strange as I always receive that message) the phone was cut off. I then telephoned them again and after 10 odd minutes the phone was answered. I was then told that the Tesco fraud department was conducting a number of routine checks to protect customers and they require me to confirm that it was me that withdrew £50 in cash on 2nd November. I asked why the text message I received did not say that this was a routine security check, as opposed to suggesting that my account had been subject to a fraudulent attack? I was told that the message was just a in a standard form that is sent to everyone. I despair with these idiots, I am closing the account. I will warm you they never answer the telephone in a reasonable amount of time, its usually 15 mins plus, plus a second or third call to get any service. Do yourself a favour and find another bank, but don't choose Barclays. Reviewed on: 5th November 2016

Disgusting and cheap car insurance

Took out a policy for £1700 with tesco bank car insurance and there was a mistake made by the tesco employees as they set it up through the phone so when I noticed the mistake and phoned them without listening to what had happened they voided my policy and refused to pay any of my premium back and refused to cover me from day 1 when on the phone they told me that they voided the cover from the date of the phone , I request of all you to please read reviews and not go with the policy really heartbreaking losing £1700 within the first 10 days of your insurance ... The WORST company EVER

By far the worst car insurance company I have had to deal with. Customer service is non-existent. The staff are rude and unhelpful. They went ahead and paid out to the third party without consulting me or obtaining any evidence from me. When I tried to cancel the renewal they made it very difficult for me to leave them.
